Learn about the different types of silk here

Can I make a custom order?

Yes you can. There is nothing I love more than creating a custom colour or design! Please use the contact form on the website to get in touch with your ideas.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes you can. Based in Baldivis, Perth, 40km south of the CBD. Please arrange a time for collection.

What chemicals/products are used?

I use Soy Milk, Alum, Vinegar, Bi-carb soda and Iron. Avocado, Rose petals, Eucalyptus, Marigolds, Pomegranate, Onion skins, Mint, Madder, Saxon blue, Cutch and various other foraged plants to create colour.

How do I take care of the silks?

All the ribbons and runners are made colourfast with fixative however small flecks of dye can remain and if you think your ribbons may get wet you should pre-wash them before use. They can be hand washed in cold water with gentle PH neutral soap and hung to dry. You can iron or leave crinkled, depending on your preference. Avoid using too much steam if ironing or run ribbons through the tongs of a hair straightening iron instead. For silk velvet ribbons, iron pile side down and never blast with steam or leave the iron in one spot for any time.

How do I take care of muslin?

Muslin can be machine washed or hand washed in cold water. Drip dry in shade, or for a waffled/crinkled texture use a tumble dryer. Do not bleach. Muslin can be ironed using a warm iron. Avoid steam if possible.

Samples

I am able to send samples of the types and textures of ribbons if they are in stock but cannot guarantee you will receive samples of specific colours.  Please contact me and I will gladly send you a few for the cost of shipping.

Colour differences

I do my best to photograph in natural light, but all screens show colour differently. Also, since everything is hand-dyed, colour variations WILL occur. If you are trying to match something specifically, please email me prior to placing an order and we can provide a recommendation.

Colour fastness

I use natural mordants and fixatives and wash and press all ribbons before sending them to their new homes. Although rare, there is a chance of small dye molecules being left in the fabrics fibres. While using our products, if you believe the ribbons will become dampened with water you should wash them again before use. A small amount of mild soap and cool water will work to remove any left over dye on your ribbon. Do not use bleach. Darker and brighter dyes such as navy, reds and bright yellows are the most susceptible to dye transfer if they become damp or wet. As with any hand-dyed item, please use caution.
